The Weekend Edit: 12th January
Welcome to the second article in my new series – The Weekend Edit. This is where I share articles and sites - perhaps the occasional video - which I think you will enjoy. The Weekend Edit is best enjoyed with a pastry and coffee or a platter of fresh fruit to hand. Whatever self-care ritual you find most enjoyable.
Here's a selection of articles I've been reading this past week:
The New York Times has just published this bombshell report about the counterintelligence investigation the FBI opened after Trump fired James Comey: F.B.I. Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia by Adam Goldman, Michael S. Schmidt and Nicholas Fandos. This article should be read in tandem with N.S.A. Gets More Latitude to Share Intercepted Communications. The NSA can sit on virtually every communication into and out of the U.S. that takes place over networks. This second article explains how Obama made it possible for the FBI to directly access everything the NSA had on Trump i.e. Obama supercharged the FBI’s ability to investigate Trump before he left office.
Some people say a public vote would create yet more division and disillusionment. In If May Stays At No 10, I’m Starting Project Hope, The Positive Case For Remain, London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, offers an alternative view of the opportunity a second referendum offers.
David Dimbleby’s 25 year tenure of Question Time has been replaced by the quiet authority of Fiona Bruce who was acclaimed for her cool, calm debut this week.
Andy Murray announced that he will retire this season due to a persistent hip injury. Andy Murray: From Gangly Kid To Genuine Sporting Grownup charts the evolution of one of Britain’s greatest sportsmen.
If you write a blog, you’ll enjoy One (Surprising) Blogging Resolution You Should Make for 2019 fromProblogger, one of my favourite blogging resources.
And finally, a couple of videos from Dominique Sachse, an evening news anchor at Houston’s KPRC Channel 2 and YouTuber.
In this round-up, Best Beauty Hits of 2018 (High + Low End) Dominique shares a number of green beauty choices which I’m looking forward to trying.
