Purpose-Led Strategic Planning

For founders and leadership teams who are ready for the next stage - who want a strategy as purposeful as the business they've built, at a moment when that matters more than it ever has.

Lucy's climate HR consultancy was the name that climate businesses in London called first. Revenue approaching £850,000, a team of eight brilliant consultants, and a reputation built entirely on doing the work well and caring about what it was for. She'd founded the business on a simple belief: that it should be a force for good. That had shaped every decision from the start.

And now the business had outgrown the plan that built it. The market was evolving. Her team had backgrounds in biodiversity, nature restoration, and environmental policy - expertise that had never been put to use. Lucy could feel that the next stage was going to be different, and she wanted to get it right. She wanted a strategy that put purpose at the heart of every choice - where to grow, what to focus on, what kind of impact this business could have as it looked ahead to 2030.

So we got to work - hearing from her staff, her customers, her suppliers about what they valued and where they saw the business heading. Then we brought her leadership team together for a two-day strategic planning retreat and worked through the choices that would shape everything that came next. The possibilities that opened up were extraordinary. A whole new pillar - nature and biodiversity - grounded in her team's genuine expertise and a market opportunity nobody else had seen. B Corp accreditation moving from ambition to action. And a strategy that stayed true to the original character of the business while opening up its most exciting chapter yet.

That's Strategic Planning

What you've just read is what purpose-led strategic planning looks like in practice. A process that starts with what you believe in, works through the choices that matter most, and turns them into a strategy your whole team can act on - commercially ambitious and grounded in purpose.

It's one of the most creative, energising things a founder or leadership team can do together. Stepping back from the day-to-day, looking at the full picture, and shaping the future you want.

How It Works

Every engagement is different, shaped by where your business is and what it needs. But the arc is consistent.

Preparation. We build a clear picture of where the business stands - hearing from the people who matter most, understanding the numbers, looking at the market. Some founders and leadership teams lead much of this work themselves, with my guidance on what to gather and how to think about it. Others ask me to run the whole process. Either works well, and this flexibility is one of the things that shapes the cost.

A strategic planning retreat. This is where the decisions get made. One or two days, depending on the size and complexity of the business. You bring the people who will shape and deliver whatever comes next. I facilitate. We start with what you've built and what you believe in, and work through the choices that matter most - where to focus, how to grow, what kind of impact you want to have. Each choice builds on the last, and at the end we step back and test whether the whole thing holds together as a story you believe in.

The strategic plan. After the retreat, I bring everything together into a strategic plan - a working document with clear priorities, measurable goals, timelines, and accountability for delivery. The kind of document that keeps your strategy alive in the decisions you make every day, and gives your whole team a shared direction to work towards.

For a one-day intensive, you'll receive a concise summary of key insights, priorities, and next steps to help you translate decisions into action.

Is This For Me?

If you'd like a strategy that puts purpose at the heart of your business, a good next step is a 45-minute consultation call with me. We'll talk through where your business is and what you're looking for, and work out together whether strategic planning is the right approach.

Choose strategic planning when you're looking for:

A clear direction for the next three to five years - your business has grown, your market has shifted, and you're ready to think about where you're heading and why.

A strategy that makes your purpose real - you want your business to be a force for good, and you want that commitment built into the choices you make, not just the words on your website.

Confidence about where to focus - you can see opportunities in several directions, and you want the clarity to choose well.

A plan your whole team believes in - with priorities, timelines, and accountability that keep everyone pulling together.

A purpose statement that genuinely guides decisions - whether you're working towards B Corp accreditation or simply want something your team can steer by.

If that sounds like where you are, I'd welcome a conversation.
